The largest, most profound costs to survivors of sexual violence have to do with what researchers call “Quality of Life Losses”. They cost our entire society lots of money, but even more tragic to my mind, they cost us social capital– the loss of innovation, creation and social support, that comes from networking with trusted others.

Wednesday, January 13th 11a.m. at the Utah State Capitol, I have been invited to speak, as a survivor about the suffering and quality of life losses I have experienced as a result of the sexual violence I have experienced as a child, and again as a young adult. It’s difficult to find the words…. but I’m working on it. If you are a survivor, how would you put into words your quality of life losses?
