Consent: kids ‘get it’, help them preserve it

Sexual violence prevention: the next generation
Sexual violence prevention: the next generation

Our 12 year-old son, Cruise made this visual and asked me to post it to help Talk to a Survivor. A huge fan of ongoing, affirmative consent between people attempting to meet their needs, desires, sexual or otherwise. (Did I mention he’s Stewards of Children trained? Another story for another time.)

My experience over the years with young people, is that they get the idea of consent and non-consent, and this can have nothing to do with sexual behavior. They know you don’t take something from someone without asking. Let’s help them preserve that in themselves and with how they treat others through all their human interactions.

Do you have stories, signs, images kids have created to support consent? I would love to share them here.
